What is Freemasonry?
Freemasonry is the largest and oldest secular fraternal order in the world, crossing all religious boundaries to bring men together of all countries, sects, and opinion in peace and harmony. It is a universal brotherhood, dedicated to serving the divine by service to family, country, and mankind.

Freemasonry is a philosophical organization emphasizing the study of moral symbols to build character. This education is, in part, the foundation of a more profound understanding of mankind and his existence. Living today in a "throw away / mass consumption society", Freemasonry teaches about the value of people and the meaning of relativism over personal individualism. The real nature of Freemasonry is a spiritual force behind each member, improving him or herself morally by associating with other like-minded individuals. Also, Freemasonry acts as a social organization, promoting the interaction between like-minded men within the lodge to build bonds between them. By fostering this brotherhood relationships are made that remain even outside the comforts of the lodge the bonds remain and genuine affection prevails. Wherever traveling, masons meet and greet other masons as brothers as a result of these bonds.

Freemasonry opens men's eyes to the knowledge that the road to happiness is found in the journey to the perfection of the spirit, intellect & soul, to strive to his fullest potential. Differing from religious institutions, Freemasonry sees all men as equal, not drawing division to beliefs. Fellow Freemasons are regarded as brothers because of the rituals of Freemasonry, which have remained virtually unchanged for many hundred years. By accepting men of all faiths, together in Freemasonry, they learn and teach the truths of morality, justice, patriotism and brotherly love. All expressed through reverence to the divine Great Architect of the Universe.

What Freemasonry does...
Simply, Freemasonry builds and advances the character of men to make them better.

Building on principals of moral integrity, Freemasons hold brotherly love as paramount to the benefit of mankind. Whether through charitable acts, or by direct involvement, Freemasonry has dedicated itself to the prosperity of mankind.

On the individual level, Freemasonry builds on moral philosophy, through allegorical symbols to impart rich and complex meanings about the divine. What that means is through Masonic education, individuals are given their own personal building blocks to contribute to the build of their own personal moral character, and then charged with applying that purpose in their day-to-day life.

It does not act to impart religion to its membership, instead it builds on the tenants and virtues taught by all religions, including a faith in the divine, the application of the Golden Rule, and the value of leading a moral virtuous life, all with the drive to put these ideas into personal practice. It promotes the active participation in the member’s individual faith tradition, charging them to build their spiritual character.

Throughout the mason’s life, the lessons of morality and ethics are revisited through the extensions of the various bodies of Freemasonry, building on the principals of Freemasonry. Seldom can a mason say they have learned all of the meanings taught to them through the degrees.

By serving to promote brotherly love masons are now involved in extended levels of charity and benevolence to meet the needs of those least able in society.

To serves as an example, Freemasons are involved in all of these charitable organizations, giving to the needs of others.

This is Who We Are
Freemasons are men (and in some places women) who voluntarily seek admission to a lodge, are accepted because they were tested and found to be of good moral character, with a belief in the divine, and uphold high moral, personal, and ethical standards.

They participate and desire to participate with like-minded individuals in learning what Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth truly mean, practicing in these tenants both within and without lodge, in their various communities.

Freemasons are people from all walks life, from college students to presidents. Men from all walks have petitioned and received the degrees of the fraternity and have attended and served side by side with others who have elected to do the same.

Membership is Freemasonry is not a secret, as many masons proudly wear pins or rings proclaiming their fellowship. There are no secrets in Freemasonry, except for the most initiaic of rituals in the quest for light, and even those are not secret in their activity, but rather in their deeper meanings.

The lessons learned in Freemasonry are openly shared with wives, friends, coworkers and anyone who seeks their meaning on what the great fraternity is about. But, Freemasons are not boastful nor indolent in it's virtues and do not squander their opportunities to impart wisdom whenever possible. Practical duties of charity are planned for and carried out, personally and within a lodge. And lastly, but most importantly, the bonds of fidelity and brotherly love are practiced within the lodge and without towards all brothers and non-brothers alike, but with special consideration to brother master masons, where ever they may be.

For me,this is a touchful short story. Maybe some of you have read this article before.

A gift of love

The passengers on the bus watched sympathetically as the attractive young woman with the white cane made her way carefully up the steps. She paid the driver and, using her hands to feel the location of the seats, walked down the aisle and found the seat he'd told her was empty. Then she settled in, placed her briefcase on her lap and rested her cane against her leg.
It had been a year since Susan, 34, became blind. Due to a medical misdiagnosis she had been rendered sightless, and she was suddenly thrown into a world of darkness, anger, frustration and self-pity. And all she had to cling to was her husband, Mark.
Mark was an Air Force officer and he loved Susan with all his heart. When she first lost her sight, he watched her sink into despair and was determined to help his wife gain the strength and confidence she needed to become independent again.
Finally, Susan felt ready to return to her job, but how would she get there? She used to take the bus, but was now too frightened to get around the city by herself. Mark volunteered to drive her to work each day, even though they worked at opposite ends of the city. At first, this comforted Susan, and fulfilled Mark's need to protect his sightless wife who was so insecure about performing the slightest task.
Soon, however, Mark realized the arrangement wasn't working. Susan is going to have to start taking the bus again, he admitted to himself. But she was still so fragile, so angry - how would she react? Just as he predicted, Susan was horrified at the idea of taking the bus again.
"I'm blind!", she responded bitterly. "How am I supposed to know where I am going? I feel like you're abandoning me."
Mark's heart broke to hear these words, but he knew what had to be done. He promised Susan that each morning and evening he would ride the bus with her, for as long as it took, until she got the hang of it. And that is exactly what happened. For two solid weeks, Mark, military uniform and all, accompanied Susan to and from work each day.
He taught her how to rely on her other senses, specifically her hearing, to determine where she was and how to adapt to her new environment. He helped her befriend the bus drivers who could watch out for her, and save her a seat.
Finally, Susan decided that she was ready to try the trip on her own. Monday morning arrived, and before she left, she threw her arms around Mark, her temporary bus-riding companion, her husband, and her best friend. Her eyes filled with tears of gratitude for his loyalty, his patience, And his love. She said good-bye, and for the first time, they went their separate ways. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday... Each day on her own went perfectly, and Susan had never felt better. She was doing it! She was going to work all by herself.
On Friday morning, Susan took the bus to work as usual. As she was paying the fare to exit the bus, the driver said, "Boy, I sure do envy you." Susan wasn't sure if the driver was speaking to her or not. After all, who on earth would ever envy a blind woman who had struggled just to find the courage to live for the past year? Curious, she asked the driver, "Why do you say that you envy me?"
The driver responded, "It must feel good to be taken care of and protected like you are." Susan had no idea what the driver was talking about, and again asked, "What do you mean?"

The driver answered, "You know, every morning for the past week, a fine-looking gentleman in a military uniform has been standing across the corner watching you as you get off the bus. He makes sure you cross the street safely and he watches until you enter your office building.
Then he blows you a kiss, gives you a little salute and walks away. You are one lucky lady." Tears of happiness poured down Susan's cheeks. For although she couldn't physically see him, she had always felt Mark's presence. She was lucky, so lucky, for he had given her a gift more powerful than sight, a gift she didn't need to see to believe - the gift of love that can bring light where there is darkness.

HOW CAN ATTITUDE CHANGE??

Attitudes can be changed through persuasion. We should understand attitude change as a response to communication. Factors that can affect the persuasiveness of a message:

1. Target Characteristics: These are characteristics that refer to the person who receives and processes a message. One such trait is intelligence - it seems that more intelligent people are less easily persuaded by one-sided messages. Although it is sometimes thought that those higher in self-esteem are less easily persuaded, there is some evidence that the relationship between self-esteem and persuasibility is actually curvilinear, with people of moderate self-esteem being more easily persuaded than both those of high and low self-esteem levels . The mind frame and mood of the target also plays a role in this process.
2. Source Characteristics:
The major source characteristics are expertise, trustworthiness and interpersonal attraction or attractiveness. The credibility of a perceived message has been found to be a key variable here ,if one reads a report about health and believes it came from a professional medical journal, one may be more easily persuaded than if one believes it is from a popular newspaper. Some psychologists have debated whether this is a long-lasting effect and they found the effect of telling people that a message came from a credible source disappeared after several weeks (the so-called "sleeper effect"). Whether there is a sleeper effect is controversial. Received wisdom is that if people are informed of the source of a message before hearing it, there is less likelihood of a sleeper effect than if they are told a message and then told its source.
3. Message Characteristics:
The nature of the message plays a role in persuasion. Sometimes presenting both sides of a story is useful to help change attitudes.

Cognitive Routes: A message can appeal to an individual's cognitive evaluation to help change an attitude. In the central route to persuasion the individual is presented with the data and motivated to evaluate the data and arrive at an attitude changing conclusion. In the peripheral route to attitude change, the individual is encouraged to not look at the content but at the source. This is commonly seen in modern advertisements that feature celebrities. In some cases, physician, doctors or experts are used. In other cases film stars are used for their attractiveness.

I've read an article about a play on Israel's invasion of Gaza. It was staged by a group of deaf and mute pupils from Sekolah Pendidikan Khas Kuantan and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tengku Panglima Perang Tengku Mohamad.
Some of the boys played the role of brutal Israeli soldiers, while the girls portrayed the image of innocent Palestinian civilians.
They do this to show and share with people what was happen in Gaza, a brutal Terrorism. The Israeli soldier had kill lots of Palestinian. This is the discrimination for the Palestinian in their homeland even though they are not terrorist. So, we who do not deaf or mute should not just ignore and just keep quite of this tragedy. For sure we don't want any terrorism in our country and others because we know terrorism had give a lot of disadvantages to economics, politic, social, and relationship between the country. We must follow the deaf and mute step to encourage other people to gain peace in Gaza and all the countries in this world. We can only gain peaceful if we work together to achieve it. Teamwork is important to gain success.

Assalamualaikum good day..LOVE is any of a number of emotions and experiences related to a sense of strong affection. The word love can refer to a variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes, ranging from generic pleasure ("I loved that meal") to intense interpersonal attraction ("I love my girlfriend"). This diversity of meanings, combined with the complexity of the feelings involved, makes love unusually difficult to consistently define, even compared to other emotional states.
As an abstract concept, love usually refers to a deep, ineffable feeling of tenderly caring for another person. Even this limited conception of love, however, encompasses a wealth of different feelings, from the passionate desire and intimacy of romantic love to the nonsexual emotional closeness of familial and Platonic love to the profound oneness or devotion of religious love. Love in its various forms acts as a major facilitator of interpersonal relationships and, owing to its central psychological importance, is one of the most common themes in the creative arts.

Does Talking to Yourself Mean You're Crazy?

A reader recently asked whether it was abnormal for people to talk to themselves.

I don't believe there's anything unusual in someone speaking out loud to no one in particular, or when no one else is around. For some people, it's simply a habit; they may be using it to keep themselves organized, stay focused, and remind themselves what to do next.

Some people talk out loud when they feel lonely. Or others will reflect on their actions with comments such as "Great job," "I'm glad that's finally done," or "That was really stupid."

And who doesn't occasionally talk back to the radio or television, especially when engaged in viewing sports events or listening to a despised politician?

On the other hand, sometimes talking to oneself can indeed be a manifestation of mental illness. Some people with psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia may lose touch with reality and experience auditory hallucinations of voices. They feel compelled to respond to "their" voices and even carry on extensive conversations. It's not unusual in downtown areas of big cities to see homeless people, quite oblivious to their surroundings, conversing earnestly when no one else is nearby.

When people seem to be carrying on conversations with themselves these days, however, it most often means they have a Bluetooth earpiece and a cell phone. These one-sided conversations can be pretty annoying if you're stuck in front of such a caller in a line for any length of time.

So... there are plenty of situations when talking out loud to yourself or to no one in particular is perfectly appropriate and socially acceptable. But when we have to listen to lengthy one-sided conversations from a cell phone user, we call it "noise pollution."

Who, finally, are the crazy ones? It's the oblivious cell phone talkers who don't look where they are going, don't care who hears every mind-numbing detail about their business and personal affairs, and couldn't care less that they're driving everyone within earshot... a little mad. They should know better

Confinement after Childbirth: Malay-Kelantanese Style

hi there..
now i want to share an interesting article which is should everyone knows..thought everyone in the same boat in the future..especially to the gurls..who are being a mother in the future..
And for the guys were not left behind and should read this for their information.

Article begin;
I started the first part of this topic when I was in confinement with Bea3, and I’d been taking my sweetest time to finish it. Now, I'm in another round of confinement, and I think I'd finally finish it off. I wrote about my confinement diet here and bertungku here

Now, it is about berbengkung or think tummy binding is just the right words here.

It is a must during confinement. Said to prevent wind, and also believed to help mothers to return to their pre-pregnancy size. I know some Malays (especially of Javanese origin) use a long piece of cloth and wrap the body from the tummy to way down the knee. According to my mother-in-law, she didn’t use any other medication, only the cloth.

Having a prob to post a pic, anyway mine is a cloth, big enough to cover middle hip up to below the chest with strings to tie up. Mom-in-law said hers was only a piece of cloth without the strings. It used to belong to mom, of course this one is in smaller size when she was smaller;). From pics, she started to gain weigh after my little brother. So that’s some 30-something year-ole piece of cloth. The bigger ones was used by my sisters. Just like baby tummy bind, only bigger, and yes both of us have to be in that during confinement, and normally baby wears it longer, even after confinement. I will write about what my sarcastic (in a nice way, though;)) peadetrician said when he saw one on Bea3 soon.

And the medication is a must for us. We use combinations of fresh tumeric+salt (sometimes, I thought mom would deep-fry me after smudging me with that), honey+lime juice (hate this one as the honey would stuck on my skin and it hurts to remove the cloth) lime (kapur sirih)+vinegar (also hate this, as it is just itchy). And once mom tried a type of leave that had been pureed first, no idea what that was. I normally stick to the first one.
The medication can be found in those confinement packages in the market but since to me tumeric+salt is good enough, I never bother about them.

Now, I always get the same question over and over. Does it work? To me I really can’t verify that as after all pregnancy so far, I just easily returned back to my original waistline. Like I mentioned earlier, I don’t gain much, and only my tummy protrude a bit in front and really look pregnant at 7 month. I’m just skinny. Anyway, I think I need a little more toning-up to do for my tummy. It never bothers hubby, so think I will do that only after I’m sure we are done with child-bearing.

As for my other sisters, they all did this but some have some weigh to shed.
Though I’m not sure if it works, I would continue doing it. It can get uncomfortable but I can bear with it a lot better compared to what I have to eat in that all 40 days.
In fact I'm wearing it right now, and it is not comfortable wearing it while sitting down with a notebook on my lap. Actually the best is to wear it just before bedtime, and I'm not supposed to move around.
And I'm below my ideal weigh again, and only after 9 days, I got my flat tummy back. Sometimes I do wonder what happen to the streached skin, well I think all slim moms are like that.

A bit relieved that I’m finally done with this. Anyway will probably write a bit more soon, about the tradisional massage and what I love and hate about being in confinement.

Love to hear comments from other moms who also do this.

this shold be enough for now..

Music - A New Age Therapy in Stress Management

Music, be it instrumental or vocal, is nothing but sound energy with varied vibrations that permeates its surroundings. You may like or attracted towards one particular type of music depending upon your level of body vibration. You may like high pitch vibrations, say jazz and others may like mild and intrinsic vibrating sounds like flute.
The science of yoga says that your body is nothing but a bundle of vibrating energy. Hence, a music or sound that is well coordinated to match your level of vibrations can definitely create a healing effect in your body. The sound of music, when well coordinated with your inner vibrations, lets you have a soothing mind and releases the negative energy from your stressed out nerves. You can have an emotional satisfaction whether you perform or listen to music.
For any normal day to day activities, you use your left brain and your right side of brain is the seat of creativity. When you start enjoying any good music, actually you will be switching over to your right hemisphere of your brain and the music will create a tremendous relaxation in you. Again, as the right hemisphere of your brain controls your thought processes, right music vibrations will further enhance the positive thought processes in you.
You might have seen or heard some melodious music flowing out in many offices, lounges of hotels. When you carefully analyse your mind situation before and after your conspicuous realisation of the channel music, you can definitely differentiate the calmness that has descended on you after you have started listening to the music.
Recent therapeutic science says that your brain will be able to get a massaging effect wen you hear music that matches with your vibration and that may be the reason for the wide spread usage of music in stress treatment. Music can also be used in relieving your anxiety and to bring out you from the depressed state.
Under stress all your muscles will become stiff and your listening to music will release the tension from your muscles and relax you. It is a fact that even great singers resort to listening to music from time to time for relieving their stress. If you are not a singer, you can resort to singing and if you are a singer already, you can resort to listening to music for relieving your stress.
When you subject yourself to good quality soothing music, you will develop focus and concentration resulting in setting a deep relaxation in you. You can make it a point to listen to a pleasant music at the end of the day without fail. The music vibration will reduce your metabolism rate and reduce the effects of stress, thereby leading to your physical and emotional well being.
Right from today, you can start listening to your favourite melodies or tunes and start a new beginning to becoming a cheerful and positive person.

10 Things Your Car Mechanic Won't Tell You

1. "Watch out for scare tactics. Admonitions like 'I wouldn't drive this another mile' should be viewed with suspicion."

2. "Check for ASE [National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence] or AAA [American Automobile Association] certification, as well as a state license. Reputable shops are proud to display them."

3. "Ask, ask, ask. For recommendations, years in business, warranties offered, licenses, and the type of equipment used. Look for a clean garage. A floor cluttered with empty oil cans, worn tires, and dirty rags is a red flag."

4. "Never sign a blank authorization form. Always get a signed work order with a specific estimate for each job and warranties that apply."

5. "It's nuts to take a car with engine problems to a shop without a good engine analyzer and scan tool. Any mechanic who says 'I don't need fancy equipment' should be avoided."

6. "Synthetic motor oils may cost more, but you'll get a lot more miles between changes."

7. "When you go for a second opinion, don't tell the mechanic what the first diagnosis and price were."

8. "Coolant flushes and power steering flushes are very common gimmicks at quick lubes. Check your owner's manual; many cars have fluid that is designed to go 100,000 miles. And cleaning fuel injectors is a waste of time and money. There are additives on the market that do a great job."

9. "Always ask for OE [original equipment] brake pads or at least equivalent material. A $49.95 brake job will usually get you the worst friction material you can buy-it's the difference between stopping short and causing a pileup on the way to work."

10. "Ask about your new tire's 'build date.' If you're getting an unusually good deal, you might be receiving three-year-old treads, especially risky for snow tires."

Food Allergy

A food allergy is an adverse immune response to a food protein.Food allergy is distinct from other adverse responses to food, such as food intolerance, pharmacologic reactions, and toxin-mediated reactions.

The food protein triggering the allergic response is termed a food allergen. It is estimated that up to 12 million Americans have food allergies, and the prevalence is rising.Six to eight percent of children under the age of three have food allergies and nearly four percent of adults have them.Food allergies cause roughly 30,000 emergency room visits and 100 to 200 deaths per year in the United States. The most common food allergies in adults are shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, and eggs, and the most common food allergies in children are milk, eggs, peanuts, and tree nuts.Treatment consists of avoidance diets, in which the allergic person avoids all forms of the food to which they are allergic. For people who are extremely sensitive, this may involve the total avoidance of any exposure with the allergen, including touching or inhaling the problematic food as well as touching any surfaces that may have come into contact with it. Areas of research include anti-IgE antibody (omalizumab, or Xolair) and specific oral tolerance induction (SOTI), which have shown some promise for treatment of certain food allergies. Persons diagnosed with a food allergy may carry an autoinjector of epinephrine such as an EpiPen or Twinject, wear some form of medical alert jewelry, or develop an emergency action plan, in accordance with their doctor.

Diagnose

he best method for diagnosing food allergy is to be assessed by an allergist. The allergist will review the patient's history and the symptoms or reactions that have been noted after food ingestion. If the allergist feels the symptoms or reactions are consistent with food allergy, he/she will perform allergy tests.
Examples of allergy testing include:
Skin prick testing is easy to do and results are available in minutes. Different allergists may use different devices for skin prick testing. Some use a "bifurcated needle", which looks like a fork with 2 prongs. Others use a "multi-test", which may look like a small board with several pins sticking out of it. In these tests, a tiny amount of the suspected allergen is put onto the skin or into a testing device, and the device is placed on the skin to prick, or break through, the top layer of skin. This puts a small amount of the allergen under the skin. A hive will form at any spot where the person is allergic. This test generally yields a positive or negative result. It is good for quickly learning if a person is allergic to a particular food or not, because it detects allergic antibodies known as IgE. Skin tests cannot predict if a reaction would occur or what kind of reaction might occur if a person ingests that particular allergen. They can however confirm an allergy in light of a patient's history of reactions to a particular food. Non-IgE mediated allergies cannot be detected by this method.
Blood tests are another useful diagnostic tool for evaluating IgE-mediated food allergies. For example, the RAST (RadioAllergoSorbent Test)detects the presence of IgE antibodies to a particular allergen. A CAP-RAST test is a specific type of RAST test with greater specificity: it can show the amount of IgE present to each allergen.Researchers have been able to determine "predictive values" for certain foods. These predictive values can be compared to the RAST blood test results. If a persons RAST score is higher than the predictive value for that food, then there is over a 95% chance the person will have an allergic reaction (limited to rash and anaphylaxis reactions) if they ingest that food.[citation needed] Currently, predictive values are available for the following foods: milk, egg, peanut, fish, soy, and wheat.Blood tests allow for hundreds of allergens to be screened from a single sample, and cover food allergies as well as inhalants. However, non-IgE mediated allergies cannot be detected by this method.
Food challenges, especially double-blind placebo-controlled food challenges (DBPCFC), are the gold standard for diagnosis of food allergies, including most non-IgE mediated reactions. Blind food challenges involve packaging the suspected allergen into a capsule, giving it to the patient, and observing the patient for signs or symptoms of an allergic reaction. Due to the risk of anaphylaxis, food challenges are usually conducted in a hospital environment in the presence of a doctor.
Additional diagnostic tools for evaluation of eosinophilic or non-IgE mediated reactions include endoscopy, colonoscopy, and biopsy.
Important differential diagnoses are:
Lactose intolerance; this generally develops later in life but can present in young patients in severe cases. This is due to an enzyme deficiency (lactase) and not allergy. It occurs in many non-Western people.
Celiac disease; this is an autoimmune disorder triggered by gluten proteins such as gliadin (present in wheat, rye and barley). It is a non-IgE mediated food allergy by definition.
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
C1 esterase inhibitor deficiency (hereditary angioedema); this rare disease generally causes attacks of angioedema, but can present solely with abdominal pain and occasional diarrhea.

During his term in office, he was credited for engineering Malaysia's rapid modernization. Mahathir is also known for his criticisms of western and developed countries.
During his administration, he was considered to be one of Asia's most influential leaders. Mahathir is also noted in the Western world as an outspoken critic of Western-style globalization. Mahathir was born in Alor Star, the capital of the northern Malaysian state of Kedah, the youngest of nine children of a schoolteacher and a housewife. His father, Mohamad Iskandar, was of half-Indian origin, being the son of a Malayalee Muslim (who migrated from Kerala) and a Malay mother, while Mahathir's own mother, Wan Tampawan, was Malay.
During World War II, he sold pisang goreng (banana fritters) and other snacks to supplement his family income during the Japanese occupation of Malaya. Mahathir attended a Malay vernacular school before continuing his education at the Sultan Abdul Hamid College in Alor Star. Mahathir then attended the King Edward VII Medical College (the predecessor of present-day National University of Singapore) in Singapore, where he edited a medical student magazine called The Cauldron; he also contributed to the The Straits Times newspaper anonymously under the nickname "Che Det". Mahathir was also President of the Muslim Society in the college.Upon graduation in 1953, Mahathir joined the then Malayan government service as a medical officer. He married Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali—a fellow doctor and former classmate in college—on 5 August 1956, and left government service in 1957 to set up his own private practice in Alor Star. Mahathir thrived in private practice, and allowed him to own by 1959 a Pontiac Catalina and employ an ethnic Chinese chauffeur (at the time, almost all chauffeurs in Malaysia were Malays, owing to the economic dominance of the ethnic Chinese). Some critics have suggested this foreshadowed a later hallmark of Mahathir's politics, which focused on the "cultivation of such emblems of power".

From his marriage with Siti Hasmah binti Haji Mohamad Ali, they have five children, three sons and two daughters. Both Mukhriz and Mokhzani Mahathir are involved in business as well as in politics while their eldest daughter Marina Mahathir is a prominent local writer and AIDS activist.
He successfully underwent a heart bypass operation in 1989 at age 63. In the third general election of 1964, Mahathir was elected Member of Parliament for Kota Setar Selatan defeating the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party's (PAS) candidate with a 60.2% majority. He lost the seat in the following general election in 1969 by a mere 989 votes to PAS's candidate, Haji Yusoff Rawa.
Following the race riots of 13 May 1969, Mahathir was sacked from the UMNO Supreme Council on 12 July, following his widespread distribution to the public of his letter to Tunku Abdul Rahman, the Prime Minister at that time. In his letter, he had criticised the manner in which Tunku Abdul Rahman had handled the country's administration which was believed to favour the ethnic Chinese. Mahathir was subsequently relieved of his party membership on 26 September.

While in the political wilderness, Mahathir wrote his book, "The Malay Dilemma" in which he sought to explain the causes of the 13 May Incident in Kuala Lumpur and the reasons for the Malays' lack of economic progress within their own country. He then proposed a politico-economic solution in the form of "constructive protection", worked out after careful consideration of the effects of heredity and environmental factors on the Malay race. The book, published in 1970, was promptly banned by the Tunku Abdul Rahman government. However, some of the proposals in this book had been used by Tun Abdul Razak, Tunku Abdul Rahman's successor, in his "New Economic Policy" (NEP) that was principally geared towards affirmative action economic programs to address the nation's economic disparity between the Malays and the non-Malays. The ban on his book was eventually lifted after Mahathir became Prime Minister in 1981. Mahathir rejoined UMNO on 7 March 1972, and was appointed as Senator in 1973. He relinquished the senatorship post in 1974 in order to contest in the general elections where he was returned unopposed in the constituency of Kubang Pasu, and was appointed as the Minister of Education. In 1975, he became one of the three vice-presidents of UMNO, after winning the seat by 47 votes. Tun Hussein Onn appointed Mahathir as Deputy Prime Minister on 15 September 1978, and in a Cabinet reshuffle, appointed him concurrently as the Minister of Trade and Industry.Mahathir has announced that he has resigned from UMNO, the backbone of the ruling party, the Barisan National on 19 May 2008 which coincides with the Wesak Day celebration.

A touch screen is a special type of visual display unit with a screen which is sensitive to pressure or touching. The screen can detect the position of the point of touch. The design of touch screens is best for inputting simple choices and the choices are programmable. The device is very user-friendly since it 'talks' with the user when the user is picking up choices on the screen.
Touch technology turns a CRT, flat panel display or flat surface into a dynamic data entry device that replaces both the keyboard and mouse. In addition to eliminating these separate data entry devices, touch offers an "intuitive" interface. In public kiosks, for example, users receive no more instruction than 'touch your selection.'
Specific areas of the screen are defined as "buttons" that the operator selects simply by touching them. One significant advantage to touch screen applications is that each screen can be customized to reflect only the valid options for each phase of an operation, greatly reducing the frustration of hunting for the right key or function.
Pen-based systems, such as the Palm Pilot® and signature capture systems, also use touch technology but are not included in this article. The essential difference is that the pressure levels are set higher for pen-based systems than for touch.
Touch screens come in a wide range of options, from full color VGA and SVGA monitors designed for highly graphic Windows® or Macintosh® applications to small monochrome displays designed for keypad replacement and enhancement.
Specific figures on the growth of touch screen technology are hard to come by, but a 1995 study last year by Venture Development Corporation predicted overall growth of 17%, with at least 10% in the industrial sector.
According to Jim Sido, IBM's National Marketing Manager for Food Service Products, this year should see even greater growth than last year.
John Muhlberger, Director of Product Management at PAR Microsystems estimated that, for POS applications, touch screen terminals outsell keyboard terminals about 4:1, even though the touch terminals cost somewhat more.
Other vendors agree that touch screen technology is becoming more popular because of its ease-of-use, proven reliability, expanded functionality, and decreasing cost.

Love at the first sight?

Love at first sight is an emotional condition whereby a person feels romantic attraction for a stranger on the first encounter with the stranger. The term may be used to refer to a mere sexual attraction or crush, but it usually refers to actually falling in love with someone literally the very first time one sees him or her, along with the deep desire to have an intimate relationship with that person. The stranger may or may not be aware that the other person has any such notion, and may not even be aware of the other person's presence (such as in a crowded place). Sometimes two people experience this phenomenon towards each other at the same time, usually when their eyes meet.

>>i do belive in that.in a real life, this type of love is really exists.but i dont think all of the people will having this felling because each of us were different.
people were created with different minds and soul.so,we are having a different sense of interest.

Why we can never recover from first love

First relationships can be intense, passionate and inspire a great deal of bad poetry. But, according to new research, if you want to find happiness in later life, it is best to avoid puppy love altogether.

The claim comes in a book called Changing Relationships, a collection of new research papers by Britain's leading sociologists, edited by Dr Malcolm Brynin, principal research officer at the Institute for Social and Economic Research at the University of Essex.

Brynin found that the euphoria of first love can damage future relationships. "Remarkably, it seems that the secret to long-term happiness in a relationship is to skip a first relationship," said Brynin. "In an ideal world, you would wake up already in your second relationship."

While researching the components of successful long-term partnerships, Brynin found intense first loves could set unrealistic benchmarks, against which we judge future relationships. "If you had a very passionate first relationship and allow that feeling to become your benchmark for a relationship dynamic, then it becomes inevitable that future, more adult partnerships will seem boring and a disappointment," he said.

Adults in successful long-term partnerships are those who have taken a calm, pragmatic view of what they need from a relationship, Brynin found. "The problems start if you try not only to get everything you need for an adult relationship, but also strive for the heights of excitement and intensity you had in your first experience of love. The solution is clear: if you can protect yourself from intense passion in your first relationship, you will be happier in your later relationships."

Dr Gayle Brewer, a lecturer in social psychology at the University of Central Lancashire, agreed: "If you judge adult relationships against your first relationship, you are using a single benchmark: that of an intense and unrealistic passion," she said. "Adult relationships need all sorts of other virtues to survive, many of which are not compatible with that level of intensity. For example, you might have felt passionate about your first love because their spontaneity was breathtakingly exciting.

"Adult relationships, however, require people to be committed and reliable. Someone who excels in spontaneity is unlikely to also have those characteristics. So you're caught in a bind: the characteristics that excite you are the ones that lead to the failure of an adult relationship. If you emotionally fixate on having the excitement, while knowing you need the reliability, you're making demands that no relationship can satisfy," she added.

But Professor Helen Fisher, an anthropologist at Rutgers University in New Jersey, believes that striving for that initial intensity of emotion can help relationships to survive. Using MRI scans, Fisher observed similar brain activity among those who had been happily married for more than two decades with those who had been in relationships for less than six months.

"I found incontrovertible, physiological evidence that romantic love can last," she said. "It appears that romantic love exists not only to initiate pair-bonding but to maintain and enhance long-term relationships."

-actually this phenomenon depends on us.sometimes first love will everlasting for our hole life.it is also depends on that person how they handle their first love.if they are really serious with love,it was hard for them to let he loves gone.

thanks

choclate facts
Americans prefer milk chocolate, but dark chocolate's popularity is growing rapidly.

U.S. chocolate manufacturers use 3.5 million pounds of whole milk every day to make chocolate.

Chocolate manufacturers currently use 40% of the world's almonds and 20% of the world's peanuts. (whoa... pretty interesting chocolate facts there, no?)

As of 2006, consumers spent more than 7 million dollars a year on chocolate related products. Chocolate is not physically addictive and does not cause acne, as shown in several medical studies.

Chocolate is not high in caffeine. A 1oz bar of milk chocolate contains only 5-6mg of caffeine. This is significantly less than in coffee, tea, and soft drinks.
In general, the shelf life for chocolate is a year.

The largest chocolate bar ever made weighed over 5,000 pounds and was made in Italy in 2000.

The largest slab of fudge was over 2,000 pounds and was made in Canada.

Chocolate is America's favorite flavor, according to recent surveys with a little over 50% of adults preferring chocolate to other flavors.

According to Pat Kendall, PhD, a Food Science and Nutrition Specialist at the Colorado State

University. Chocolate is the most commonly craved food in North America. 40% of American women and 15% of American men are "chocoholics".

One Family's Journey From Loss to a New Life

I was walking through the orphanage filled with tiny children and came upon a girl about two months old. She was wailing, and I thought my eardrums would burst. It seemed she was crying from hunger, but as I picked her up and felt her heaviness, I wondered if something more was behind her tears, a sadness, maybe, at having been left there.

Looking at her, I thought, I know exactly how you feel.

As I held her tight to my heart, I felt compassion, something I hadn't felt since my 15-year-old son, Jantsen, died of an undetected heart ailment several months earlier. The sadness and anger I'd experienced had me believing that nobody could feel as bad as I did. I would walk the earth under a thick cloud for the rest of my life; I had the corner on suffering.

But as I began rocking the baby girl to sleep that November of 1999 in a remote orphanage in Phan Rang, Vietnam, I realized how much she and I had in common. Perhaps I wasn't the only one suffering in this world.

I heard my husband, Randy, call me. "You've got to come here," he said. He had the strangest look on his face.

I put the girl down and followed Randy to an adjoining room. A little boy was sitting on a woven mat. He was wearing a blue suit and white crocheted booties. He was all alone.

As soon as I saw him, I knew.

He was about to change our life.

He was born Vinh Thien to a mother who couldn't afford to raise him. She already had three children who lived with her parents, chicken farmers in Phu Thanh, a rural, impoverished area in central Vietnam. When the young woman discovered she was pregnant again, her parents refused to take the child in. So, a few months after Vinh was born, she left him at the orphanage and vanished.

"Mom," I heard Crista, our daughter, say beside me as we stared at him, "can you believe this baby?"

He was beautiful, tiny and soft, with huge cheeks and meaty thighs, the only plump kid in a country of thin people. I picked him up, and immediately I was overwhelmed.

I had met at least 50 children that morning. Our friends Marvin and Carol Harlan, who supported this place and had adopted their daughter, Kylie, from Vietnam, had invited us to visit the orphanage with them. After Jantsen died, we'd established a memorial fund in his name, and donations totaling $25,000 had come in from people within our close-knit town of Neosho, Missouri. We'd been searching for the right way to use that money. We wanted to make our son proud.

Marvin and Carol thought we ought to see this place. It needed help.

I picked up most of the children that day and wanted to hold all of them. They were so alone; each was so interesting. But there was something about Vinh—I couldn't explain it. As he settled into me, resting his head on my shoulder, I looked up to see Randy and Crista watching me.

Tears began falling down my face, tears of hope, not misery. I felt I was exactly where I belonged. I had a sense of purpose I hadn't experienced in ages.

I took Vinh and went outside, down a stairwell, and into the courtyard. For the rest of the day, I carried him.

None of us could stay apart from him for the remainder of our three days in Phan Rang. Randy, Crista, and I would elbow one another out of the way so that we would each be the one to feed him his bottle or rock him to sleep. We were like bratty siblings wrestling over the TV remote.

"It's my turn," Randy would say as I held Vinh.

"Too bad," I'd say. "I was here first."

"Why do you still get to hold him?" Crista would say. "I found him!"

There was plenty to do, of course, when Vinh wasn't with me. I had experience as a hairdresser, so I bought a pair of scissors at a grocery store, and in the evenings, the older kids lined up so I could cut their hair.

As I looked at the children around me, I realized I would never have come to Vietnam if it weren't for the loss of my son. A day doesn't pass that I don't replay that moment in my mind as if it had happened yesterday. As if it were happening now.

And I think, all the time, about how much I love him.

"I am right here," I whisper to Jantsen. We're in a hospital room. It's cold and impersonal. It's June 16, 1999.

Pressing my body close to his, I lay my head on his chest and touch his face, feeling the soft stubble of hair on his 15-year-old cheeks. I will his chest to move, for his lungs to fill with air. But I sense nothing except a gaping emptiness and my deep, gnawing desire to change what is happening. I can't make sense of it.

My sister Cheryl had called me at the hair salon around 1 p.m. that day. "Come quick," she said. "It's Jantsen."

After football practice, Jantsen and Darius, Cheryl's son, were watching a movie at her house. She walked into the room at one point and said something to Jantsen. He didn't answer her.

He didn't even move.

She tried to shake him awake, but still he didn't move.

She and several others went into emergency mode. They gave him CPR and called an ambulance. He was taken to the hospital.

The minister from our church appears in front of me before I reach Jantsen. He takes my hands in his. I am screaming silently: Please, God, just let him be alive. Let him be brain-damaged if you need to, but just let him be alive. I will take care of him. Give him back to me!

hi....
now I want to share to you all about my dream car that's is nissan skyline GTR.The first GT-Rs were produced from 1969-1977. After a 16 year hiatus since the KPGC110 in 1972, the GT-R name was revived in 1989 with the Skyline R32. The R32 GT-R surprisingly dominated the motorsport in Japan, winning a 29 straight victories out of 29 races. The GT-R proceeded to win the JTC Group A series championship 4 years in a row, earning the name "Godzilla". It also had success in the Australian Touring Car Championship winning from 1990-1992, until the GT-R was outlawed in 1993. The R33 GT-R was also the first production car to lap the legendary Nürburgring in under eight minutes.

The Skyline GT-R became the flagship of Nissan performance, showcasing many advanced technologies including the ATTESA-ETS 4WD system and the Super-HICAS four-wheel steering. The GT-Rs remained inexpensive compared to its European rivals, with a list-price of ¥ 4.5 million (US$ 31,000). Today, the car is popular for import Drag Racing, Circuit Track, Time Attack and events hosted by tuning magazines. The GT-R actually is the winner in the 2007 Tsukuba Time Attack held in Japan-- the M-Speed GT-R ( 9 out of the top 15 cars consists of GT-Rs ). Production of the GT-R officially ceased in August 2002.

The Skyline GT-R was never manufactured outside of Japan, and the sole export market was Australia. In 1991, 100 R32s were exported to Nissan Australia, though sold poorly, and were never offered again. Despite this the car has become an iconic sports car, including in countries from the Western World (mainly the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Canada). It has become notable through pop culture such as cinema and video games like the The Fast and the Furious and Gran Turismo.

RMS Titanic?
The RMS Titanic was an Olympic-class passenger liner owned by the White Star Line and built at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, United Kingdom. For her time, she was the largest passenger steamship in the world.

On the night of 14 April 1912, during her maiden voyage, Titanic hit an iceberg and sank two hours and forty minutes later, early on 15 April 1912. The sinking resulted in the deaths of 1,517 people, making it one of the most deadly peacetime maritime disasters in history. The high casualty rate was due in part to the fact that, although complying with the regulations of the time, the ship did not carry enough lifeboats for everyone aboard. The ship had a total lifeboat capacity of 1,178 people even though her maximum capacity was 3,547 people. A disproportionate number of men died also, due to the women-and-children-first protocol that was followed.

The Titanic used some of the most advanced technology available at the time and was, after the sinking, popularly believed to have been described as “unsinkable”.[4] It was a great shock to many that, despite the extensive safety features and experienced crew, the Titanic sank. The frenzy on the part of the media about Titanic's famous victims, the legends about the sinking, the resulting changes to maritime law, and the discovery of the wreck have contributed to the interest in and fame of the Titanic that continues to this day.

Assalamu'alaikum.

The second article. I have read about the marriage between two Muslims named 'Zul' and 'Ana'. As a summary, one day, Ana's parent has decided to find a good husband for their daughter. Ana do not know about this but she believe that parent's choice is the best for her.

After a several weeks, Ana and Zul got married. Ana do not know whether she is happy or not with the marriage but lately, she must face this situation too. So, she do as good as she can to serve her husband. Zul satisfied with his choice.

Next day after has some leisure moment together, Zul take off from bed room to have some pray. He always feel not comfortable that morning. Ana feel like something wrong with her husband but Zul trying not to make Ana worry.

Then, they take a breakfast together with Ana's parent. Suddenly, when Zul went to the kitchen, he fell. Everyone was scary and roughly trying to help him. But the destiny had came to invited Zul. He die.

Ana feel very sad. But she is strong enough to facing all that. She know when someone that she love be taken away, the place will be replaced by the other person. Ana pregnant. Her son is enough for her to replace her ex-husband's place.

As conclusion, we will face the marriage moment. So, make sure we are well-prepared for it. We live with our parent maybe only for twenty five years, but with our partner for the rest of our life. Make sure we will be the best for our partner because this will affected our new family structure. Plant a hope to be with your partner until you entering the heaven. InsyaAllah.
